Project approach
The approach for this project includes:
- Telstra to establish a separate network over which the pilot will be run
- Networking and video conferencing facilities to be provided by the Telstra for each hospital site with the key control point being located at the Telstra Exchange in Melbourne
- Software for telemedicine application to be provided and configured by Cerner Corporation (Hardware for this application to be on loan from IBM Corporation for the period of the pilot.
- A clinical working party will be established to build change management components such as guidelines, process and work instructions and to define functional requirements for the ViTCCU platform
- A technical working party will be established to identify and address site specific technical requirements including infrastructure and facilities
- KPMG will be engaged to provide performance management advisory for the project, develop a business case and define the framework for benefit measurement
- Loddon Mallee Health Alliance will manage the overall co-ordination of the project and provide project management resources to support the activities of all project teams
- A pilot of the system will be trialled with Bendigo Health and the Alfred Hospital before being rolled out to all other scoped city and country sites.
