Current Status

The project's current status is:

As planned, the ViTCCU system was operational as of the 2nd of December 2008.

The main issue affecting production use was the failure to scan from the Cerner application. This matter was resolved with one week of the ‘go-live’ date.

There are some minor infrastructure issues with the Polycom equipment that do not affect the quality or timeliness of the video conferencing content. Service requests have been raised through Telstra with the appropriate vendor and network data collection has been undertaken. We await the outcome of this process.

All proposed changes to the ViTCCU system from 1st of December are subject to the formal change management process.  This process requires submission of change request to the Project, review and authorisation by Project Executive, planning, design, test and documentation of change by provider, scheduling and formal approval, implementation and formal review.  The following changes are subject to this process:
•    Virtual INET application – expected Jan/Feb 09
•    Careaware Medical Monitor integration – expected Feb 09
•    Bendigo Radiology Viewer – expected Jan/Feb 09
•    Mildura Radiology Viewer – expected Feb 09
Refer to the website for the formal Request for Change process to be followed for the operational environment (http://www.lmha.com.au/vitccu/projectteam/changerequest.aspx ).

Mildura are still waiting on final approval of legal counsel before signing off the Participating Agency Agreement but an in-principle agreement has been reached. The ViTCCU Board discussed this issue at their meeting on 3rd of December 2008 and Mildura are a full participant in ViTCCU.

Ongoing meetings of Simulation Coordinators will commence in late January 09 to be conducted quarterly.

The media launch is scheduled for March 2009. The precise date has yet to be finalised as it is dependent on the availability of the Minister. Meanwhile, preparations for the event are well underway.

In late December 08, LMHA assumed responsibility for liaising with ViTCCU participants to improve to timeliness of this data. Progress in this area will be reported, to the ViTCCU Board, on an ongoing basis.

After the first month of ViTCCU operation the overall usage of the system is a little lower than expected from some sites. The ViTCCU project office is engaging with the simulation coordinators and key staff at the ViTCCU sites to identify areas where the ViTCCU system can be used along with barriers to usage.
