In the regional sites, a mobile cart will be used to host the video conferencing system. The cart will be able to be positioned at the bedside of the patient so that the advising physician can view the patient condition remotely and advise the treating physician.

The project is on track to deliver the first sites (Bendigo and Alfred) in late September 2008, with go live expected by mid October. The scope has increased to include a workstation in the Bendigo Critical Care Unit and a second workstation in the HDU units within Echuca and Swan Hill, however there has been no negative impact to the project budget.
Adult Retrieval Victoria remain a phone service at this stage due to insufficient funding for their inclusion as a scope change.

A number of marketing opportunities have been identified for the project encompassing local, regional and national media. Loretta Gibson from Bendigo Health will be the central point of co-ordination for all marketing for this project.

The Virtual Trauma and Critical Care Unit project will provide support for local regional doctors, in smaller towns, dealing with trauma or specialist cases, by linking them via video conference, with trauma and critical care specialists at Melbourne’s Alfred, Austin, St Vincent's and Royal Children’s hospitals.

Project is on track to deliver all sites by end of November 2008. Some minor concerns have been raised with regard to technical integration of medical monitors and radiology images, however a number of options are being considered to either manage the issue or introduce workarounds.
