The project is on track to deliver the first sites (Bendigo and Alfred) in late September 2008, with go live expected by mid October. The scope has increased to include a workstation in the Bendigo Critical Care Unit and a second workstation in the HDU units within Echuca and Swan Hill, however there has been no negative impact to the project budget.
Adult Retrieval Victoria remain a phone service at this stage due to insufficient funding for their inclusion as a scope change.
The first pilot site will be operational by late September 2008, with final handover expected by mid October (due to training and testing requirements).
The participating agency agreements are on track to be signed off by the end of August 2008, pending agreement on medical indemnity clauses to protect advising doctors in this solution.
The Clinical Working party are in almost at the end of the design process for the application, and are working through the process issues identified. This group will now start to define the guidelines and operating procedures for this process.
Over the coming weeks, Telstra will be establishing the network in each of the proposed sites, while Cerner will be concentrating on the build of the application and confirmation of requirements. The focus will be on Bendigo and Alfred initially as these will be the first sites and will be required operational for demonstration, testing and training purposes.
The project is still on track with regard to timing however there are a number of issues outstanding that require action urgently.
- Waiting on feedback from radiology providers to the defined approach for integration
- Still waiting on confirmation of the certification of the Polycom equipment in the USA more information expected now by 30/8/08
- A further issue has been identified with regard to the age and capability of the Mildura medical monitors. In order to make them capable of interacting with the application an upgrade may need to be purchased. Waiting for advice from vendor, and consulting with Mildura Hospital.
- Late completion of the IBM equipment build has delayed the commencement of the Cerner application build.
