Clinical Working Party Update - July 08
Thursday, July 03, 2008
Representatives from the participating hospitals, health services, and relevant consortium partners attended the inaugural meeting of the ViTCCU Clinical Working Party at the National Trauma Research Institute on 20 June, 2008.

Under the Chairmanship of Associate Professor Mark Fitzgerald, director of emergency and trauma centre at the Alfred Hospital, the working party focused their attention on ensuring the intent of the clinical working party was reflected within the draft terms of reference as circulated.

The working party has been established to assist in defining the functional requirements for the ViTCCU platform specifically in the areas of the Cerner INET Application; the regional practitioner carts; and the metropolitan work stations.

The KPMG representatives, Richard Cederberg and Glen Mannering, outlined the process of identifying and defining the critical success factors which will underpin the development of a robust business case at the conclusion of the trial.

Approximately half the meeting group attended via video conferencing equipment similar to what will be used for this pilot, demonstrating the usefulness of this capability for bringing regional and metropolitan groups together.

It was agreed that meetings would be held fortnightly throughout July/August to ensure appropriate clinical input into the project deliverables.

Next meeting planned for July 10th at 10am at the National Trauma Research Institute at the Alfred Hospital.

The project is supported by funding from the Australian Government under the Clever Networks program
